IDF Shoots At Terror Suspects On Lebanese Border

IDF soldiers fired at suspected terrorists who approached the Israeli-Lebanese border on Saturday.

“A certain number of suspects approached the Israel-Lebanon border. Soldiers fired in the air to warn them away, and they moved off,” reported an IDF spokeswoman, adding that no one was injured in the exchange.

A local Arab resident claimed to AFP that the suspects who approached the fence were shepherds who neared the border “by mistake.”

The incident follows an intense day Friday, in which terrorists set an explosive on the border, detonating it near an IDF border patrol. The IDF responding by shelling a position in Lebanon held by the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

The blast didn’t hurt anyone, but three soldiers were taken to the Ziv Hospital in Tzfat where they will be examined to ensure they did not suffer shock from the explosion.

Leading up to the Lebanese border heating up, last week saw terrorists in Gaza launch the largest-scale attack since the 2012 Operation Pillar of Defense, showering Israel with a barrage of roughly 100 rockets starting on Wednesday.

Islamic Jihad, the terrorist group claiming responsibility for the attacks, announced a “cease-fire” brokered by Egypt from Thursday at 2 p.m., only to break the “truce” with at least six more rockets.
