President Shimon Peres challenged presidents Barack Obama and Nicolas Sarkozy Sunday to back up their vows not let Iran go nuclear. “I want to see actual results,” the Israeli president said.

Speaking at the opening session of the annual Israel Business Conference, President Peres declared to a CNN reporter, “Iran is the center of all corruption. They kill, threaten, and poison….They are a significant threat to the entire world, not just to Israel.

“I want to see more actual results; President Barack Obama said that he will not allow Iran to become a nuclear power, as did President Nicolas Sarkozy, President Dmitry Medvedev, and Chancellor Angela Merkel. Everyone thinks that Iran is dangerous.”

President Peres said he expects world leaders “to tighten the economic and political pressure on Iran” and “to try everything else possible, and not use military action.”

Turning to Israel’s lack of natural resources and rich human resources and flourishing high-tech industry, especially when compared with energy-rich Arab countries, the president stated that Israel is lucky to have the need to compensate for the lack of natural wealth.

“We have swamps in the north, and desert in the south. We have two lakes: one is dead, and the second is disappearing and fed by only one river.” President Peres explained. ”Despite all this, we discovered that we have quality people. We have enriched the land, and the people here are smart and flexible.”
