About 90 Haredi men were inducted today (Friday) into various technical positions for the IDF, as part of a landmark program by Bina Yeruka (Green Intelligence) project to integrate more Haredi soldiers into Israeli intelligence, according to the IDF’s official website.
Chief Intelligence Officer Eli Ben Meir told the inductees, “I am confident that the many years you sat on the benches of the Beit Midrash (study hall) will contribute much to the military in the technology system, field units and deployed echelons of the Intelligence Corps.” The brigadier general added, ” I have great faith in your great motivation and desire to contribute to the security of the state of Israel.”
The IDF’s Manpower Unit also released today updated statistics about the November draft, including data on the drafting of specific populations, e.g. Haredim and Ethiopian immigrants. The list is ordered by city and geographic regions.
Factors which affect the final ranking include the total draft percentages for men and women, the number of draftees inducted into combat units, the number of draftees inducted into other useful positions, and the number of draftees for officers’ courses.
The list opens, as usual, with the statistics for the Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut area, with the draft at 82.4% for men and 82.9% among women; this rounds off the leading 5 cities for male draft, which also include Rosh Ha’Ayin, Yehud, Givat Shmuel, and Hod HaSharon at more than 78%.
The city with the highest rate of female drafts is Hod HaSharon with 90.2%. After that, the order is Ramat HaSharon, Modi’in-Maccabim-Reut, Nes Ziona, and Givatayim.
