Gaza terrorists fired a rocket at southern Israel Sunday evening.
The rocket exploded in “an empty space” in the Eshkol region. No one was hurt and no damage was reported.
The “Color Red” siren sounded to alert local residents of the incoming rocket.
The IDF Spokesman told Arutz Sheva that security forces are combing the area.
An Iron Dome anti-missile battery was stationed near the city of Eilat last week, in anticipation of rocket fire on the tourist city at Israel’s southern tip.
There has been a spike in terror activity in the Sinai Peninsula since the recent ouster of Islamist Egyptian president Mohammed Morsi. Analysts attribute the Sinai violence to Islamist extremists seeking to take advantage of the political insecurity in the country after Morsi’s ouster.
