At least 14 people, including 10 border guards, were shot to death Wednesday by gunmen who established a mock Iraqi military checkpoint in Ramadi, CNN reported.
The victims were driving in two vehicles near al-Nukhaib highway southeast of Ramadi, located in Iraq’s Anbar province, in the afternoon when they were stopped at the mock security checkpoint manned by the gunmen in military uniforms, the officers said. The gunmen then opened fire on them.
According to CNN, Iraqi security forces are investigating the incident, and no further details were immediately available.
Separately, a police officer was killed and two others were wounded after gunmen attacked a police checkpoint in the al-Jolan area northwest of Falluja on Wednesday morning, police said.
