Minister of Agriculture Yair Shamir, Deputy Defense Minister Danny Danon and several MKs took part in an annual rally at the site of Homesh in Samaria, a community that was razed in 2005 during the ill-fated appeasement move named the “Disengagement.”
They were all unanimous in calling for the revival of Homesh.
MK Nisan Slomiansky, who heads the Knesset’s Finance Committee, hinted that such a revival is indeed possible. This year, he said, “there is truly a chance for change. A chance that next year we will be able to come here to see that Homesh is a community at first and later a city, recognized by all. This is our country and we now have a government that has, I hope, the courage to declare that Homesh is an inseparable part of the Land of Israel, and grant approvals.”
