In a report, the Shabak said that the number of “populist attacks” against Israelis by Arabs in Judea and Samaria was higher in December 2012 than during the month before. The figures take into consideration the period immediately after Operation Pillar of Defense, and the Shabak said that PA Arabs seem to have become emboldened during the period.
A total of 111 security events were reported in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria during December, among them rock throwing, firebomb attacks, and stabbing attempts. Thirty of those attacks in Jerusalem during the period. Three Israeli civilians were injured in the attacks, while three security officers were injured in two separate attacks – in a stabbing attack, and in an attempt to run down a security officer.
The Shabak report stresses that there were no rockets fired at Israel by Gaza Arab terrorists in December – a major change from the 1,734 rockets that Israel was hit with in November.
