A terrorist was shot dead near Shavei Shomron in Samaria Monday after he attacked a Shin Bet agent with an axe.

According to initial details, the terrorist rammed his vehicle into an IDF jeep in the course of IDF security activity. As a result, the jeep overturned.  

Four Shin Bet men who were in the jeep suffered slight injuries. 

The terrorist then emerged from his vehicle and attacked two of the agents with an axe, wounding one of them moderately. One of the agents fired at him, and he was killed.

A police spokeswoman initially gave AFP a slightly different version of the event, according to which the jeep had flipped over in an accident. “While the soldiers were trying to get out, a Palestinian approached them with an axe and tried to attack the soldiers. The soldiers shot him dead,” police spokeswoman Luba Samri said.
