Terrorists Fire 2 Rockets at Southern Israel

Terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza fired two rockets at southern Israel on Friday night, shattering the calm of the Sabbath.

Both rockets exploded in agricultural areas in the Eshkol Regional Council. There were no physical injuries or property damage.

On Wednesday, a rocket was fired into Israel from Gaza, striking an open area in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council. The Color Red early warning siren sounded in the region. There were no reports of any physical injuries or property damage.

On Tuesday evening, after weeks of relative calm, Ashkelon was attacked by two Grad-style missiles that were fired by terrorists in northern Gaza.

One rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome anti-missile shield, while the other exploded in an open field.

In June, Hamas terrorists fired more than 100 rockets at Israel within several days, eventually announcing it has agreed to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire. However, the Gaza-based terrorist groups take advantage of the ‘ceasefires’ to periodically send a reminder to Israelis that they have the ability to fire rockets.

Between 2001 and January 2009, over 8,600 rockets were launched, leading to 28 deaths and several hundred injuries, as well as widespread psychological trauma and disruption of daily life.

Since Israel’s Operation Cast Led in late 2008 and early 2009, an estimated 1,964 rocket and mortar attacks have been launched on Israeli communities from Gaza, with four fatalities and scores of injuries recorded.
