Opposition forces in Syria stormed a pro-government satellite news television station Wednesday, killing three.

State-run Syrian media issued a response to the attack, saying “terrorists planted explosive devices in the headquarters of Al-Ikhbariya following their ransacking of the satellite channel studios, including the newsroom, which was entirely destroyed.

“Three colleagues were killed as a result of the brutal terrorist attack,” the statement continued. However, the statement did not provide details about the identity of those who died, or how they were killed.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad claimed in a statement on national media late Tuesday night, “When we’re in a state of war, all of our politics has to be concentrated on winning this war.”

The Al-Ikhbariya news network that was attacked early Wednesday is known to be a government media mouthpiece that disseminates propaganda for the Assad regime.

The fighting between opposition forces and government troops has reached the outskirts of the capital, international media reports.
