The world has watched in horror as the last year has brought hundreds of stabbing attacks to Israel. The wave of terror has challenged us to cry out to Hashem, to hold our loved ones close, and to do what we can to keep them safe.
But there are some who run toward the danger — some who, when there is a report of an attack, rush toward it to save lives and to clean remains. There are some who, rather than turn off the news when it is too painful to see, are the ones who must give the horrific news to family members that their loved ones are gone. They are the ZAKA search and rescue volunteer responders.
Those volunteers at ZAKA have seen unspeakable horrors, yet they continue on, doing the work that simply must be done, simply out of a love for their fellow Jew and a desire to do good. If only there were more that we, the rest of Israel, could do to support them.
There is.
You can help to provide ZAKA volunteers with stab-resistant gear, so that they can do their holy work, and return home to their families safely at the end of the day. A donation to this campaign is not only a donation towards the mitzvah of chesed, and the honoring of the deceased, but a donation to the peace of mind of those who choose to risk their lives, and a comfort to the wives and children who wait for them to come home.
There is no telling what the future holds, and every single day that these volunteers wait before they can receive their gear puts them in danger. Please donate whatever you can.
