An IDF force conducting routine operational activities adjacent to the security fence in northern Gaza came under fire by terrorists in the Hamas enclave on Sunday afternoon.
Fortunately no soldiers were wounded in the incident.
The IDF is conducting searches in the area to try and locate the assailants.
The shooting on Sunday comes after a similar security incident along the security fence last Friday morning, indicating that the region is becoming ever more volatile.
In that incident, an IDF Caterpillar D9 armored bulldozer drove over an explosive planted by terrorists just west of the fence, in the security perimeter area where Gazans are forbidden from approaching.
Even though the D9 rolled right over the explosive and set it off, the explosion miraculously caused no damage to the vehicle or its occupants.
