Online Warning of Al Qaeda Return to New York

U.S. authorities are investigating the source of an online poster warning that the Al Qaeda terrorist organization wants to stage a repeat “performance” in New York City, where its terrorists killed nearly 3,000 people in aerial attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

The graphic poster, apparently designed by an amateur, includes the words “Al Qaeda” and “Coming Soon Again in New York.” whose skyline at sunset is shown in the background.

The poster also was seen on various Arabic language websites and extremist forums, but at least five pro-jihad websites have been hacked, the Washington Post reported.

New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne said the source of the posting was overseas and that police are investigating. FBI spokesman J. Peter Donald issued a statement saying, “The FBI takes all threats seriously and at his time there is no specific or credible threat to New York. There is no specific or credible threat to New York.”

President Barack Obama has declared open war on Al Qaeda, and American forces killed its leader, Osama bin Laden, last year in Pakistan. President Obama has declared that it is only a matter of time before Al Qaeda is wiped out, but the international terrorist network recently has staged several attacks.

Ten of its senior terrorists are operating in Iran, where they once were in jail but since have been allowed to operate in the country, which provides a safe haven for them.
