Barghouti Placed in Solitary Confinement

Senior Fatah terrorist Marwan Barghouti has been placed in solitary confinement, after a cellphone was discovered in his possession.

Another reason reportedly cited for the punishment is a statement he released to Arab press last week. In the statement, Barghouti issued a call to Palestinian Authority Arabs to engage in “resistance” against Israel.

Barghouti said, “The launch of large-scale popular resistance at this stage serves the cause of our people.” He also called for “stopping all forms of security and economic coordination (with Israel) in all areas immediately.”

He is serving five life sentences for planning and involvement in some of the worst terrorist attacks committed against Israel in the terror onslaught that began in the year 2000, known by Arabs as the Second Intifada and referred to by some Jews as the Oslo War — because it was made possible by the Oslo Accords that allowed the creation of the Palestinian Authority.

He was convicted for responsibility in the murder of dozens of Jews. Several Israel governments have resisted attempts by Israeli political and academic leaders to free him.
